A MEETING to discuss concerns surrounding an all-night ‘rave’ which is set for Ingoldmells was held on Monday.
Representatives from Fantasy Island, Lincolnshire Police, the public, Joe’s Beach Bar and a Lincolnshire county councillor, among others, attended the meeting at the Royal Arthur Centre which was held by the members of the Ingoldmells and Addlethorpe Residents’ Forum.
The music event is being listed as the Return to Fantasy Island and Pleasuredome’s 24th Birthday which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 19 from 7pm until 10am the following morning which sparked fears over noise and the possibility of thousands of revellers descending into the village.
Despite tickets already being sold online, promoters have now withdrawn the event’s initial license application and will now look to work with Lincolnshire Police and the local authority as the application progresses.
It is thought, a revised application will be put through to East Lindsey District Council in due course which operations manager for Fantasy Island, James Parker, said the final event will adhere to safety regulations and be held legally.
Mr Parker, who attended the meeting, said: “It was a positive meeting, and there will be more to come in the future, it’s still early days and there were some constructive comments made. We will have to see how things progress.”
However, Maurice Darnell who chaired the meeting said he still didn’t think it was the ‘right event’ to be held in Ingoldmells.
“I think if they’re going down to beach when the event finishes at Fantasy Island, it could be a message for disaster. The visitors could still be intoxicated from the event and might be tempted to have a dip in the sea. I think this is a concern for the emergency services too,” said Mr Darnell.
The event is being promoted by Promised Land Events and is set to be held both outside at Fantasy Island until 5am and then down on the private beach until 10am.
No application has yet been put in by the promoters for the use of the private beach and Joe’s Beach Bar.
Bar owner, Simon Adderley, who also attended, said he was supportive of Fantasy Island and the event and expressed: “Events are the future of Ingoldmells.”
However, county councillor Colin Davie for Ingoldmells Rural, also present, said it was about ‘finding a balance for the businesses and the residents who pay council tax’ in that area.
