The International Gravity Association (IGSA) made news earlier this year with the promise of adding more events to its 2012 lineup. An initial schedule was released shortly after but things have changed since then. There have been more events added and a few date changes. Here’s a brief look at some of what’s on tap:

Non-Series Events

The Laguna Seca Invitational Downhill Skateboard Race is slated to take place April 19, 2012, at the Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. It is an invitational pro skate event with a respectable $5,000 prize purse. It will be taking place in conjunction with the Sea Otter Classic Cycling Festival. At this point, the list of pro skaters participating in the event has yet to be revealed.

World Cup Series

The World Cup Series currently has 11 events listed on its lineup. The first is the Mt. Keira Challenge. It is scheduled to take place April 20 through the 22, 2012, in Wollongong, Australia. The Newton’s Nation will follow April 27 through April 29 in Bathurst, Australia. Collectively, a $30,000 prize purse will be on the line. The Maryhill Festival of Speed (June), the Kozakov Challenge (July) and the Padova Grand Prix (August) are still taking place as scheduled. The Peyragudes Deluxe Cup has been added. It is slated to take place in Peyragudes, France in early August. The WinSport Canada Cup and World Championships in Calgary, Canada have been moved to the end of August due to a scheduling conflict. The Festival de La Bajada (October), the Snake Skeleton Downhill (October), the Malarra Pro Teutonia (November) and the Hot Heels Africa (December) are all still on track.

NorAm Downhill Series

The NorAm Downhill Series now consists of seven events and is slated to kickoff in June with the Vernon DH in British Columbia, Canada. The Grand Prix of New York was added to the lineup and is set to take place June 23 through the 24th in Windham, New York. Other events considered part of the series lineup are the Maryhill Festival of Speed, the Monterreal Longboard Fest (July), the WinSport Canada Cup, the Rubber City Gravity Games (September) and the US National Championships (October). The Rubber City Gravity Games is a new addition. It is tentatively set to take place at the Akron Soap Box Derby Hill in Akron, Ohio.

Euro Downhill Series

The Euro Downhill Series also got a face lift and is currently comprised of five events. The first event is the Bo Peep Crash and Burn. It is scheduled to take place in June. Other events in the series are the Kozakov Challenge, the Padova Grand Prix, the Peyragudes Deluxe Cup and the Descente. The Descente is a new event and it is expected to take place August 17 through the 18th in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Killeen Gonzalez’s children are skaters and she has a history of following the sport.
