St. Patrick???s Day parade, events listed

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will follow the same route as last year and again feature a no-alcohol event in Market Square.

The parade will land on St. Patrick’s Day itself — Saturday, March 17 — for the first time since 2007. It kicks off at 10 a.m.

The parade formation begins at the Greyhound bus station at Liberty Avenue and 11th Street, and the parade route will follow Grant Street to the Boulevard of the Allies, where it turns right and ends at a reviewing stand on Stanwix Street.

From 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. organizers will host an “Irish Fair in the Square” featuring Irish music, street performers and face painting.

Police will be enforcing open container laws in the square and on the parade route, though parade-goers will be welcome in adjacent bars and restaurants.

Organizers expect 200 marching groups, 18 bands and more than 150,000 onlookers.
