ATLANTA — There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.
On Friday night, the FOX Theater will bursting at the seams with screaming ‘tween girls and their generous parents. The SCREAM Tour is making at stop in Atlanta. This year, the annual concert features: Diggy Simmons, Jacob Lattimore, Jawan Harris, OMG Girls, TK and Cash. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster of the FOX Theater box office.
The Atlanta Ballet is staging a World Premiere of Twyla Tharp’s “The Princess and the Goblin” as a Sunday matinee. The performance begins at 2 p.m. at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. Tickets range between $20 to $120.
Check out Spiral Entertainment’s annual Oysterfest at Park Tavern in Midtown. Shucking will kick off at 1 p.m. and from then on, it’s an all-out party. Oysters are flown in from Prince Edward Island and shipped from the Texas coast. Admission to the event costs $20 and the event will feature performances from several bands.
Head over to Atlantic Station on Saturday afternoon for the annual Winter Beer Fest. The festival will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Atlantic Station’s main thoroughfare. Admission to the festival is $50 and guests can enjoy craft, draft, domestic and imported brews until their hearts content. All attendees are entitled to free samples and giveaways.
Calling all single bibliophiles! Feminist bookstore Charis Books and More is hosting an event just for you. On Friday night from 7-10 p.m., the restaurant is hosting their ‘Read Dating’ event. Admission to the event is $20 which includes complimentary wine and light refreshments.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the city of Hampton is hosting theirChocolate Festival. The festival will be held from 7-10 p.m. on Saturday night at the Hampton Depot. The festival will feature a host of chocolate confectionery treats, like: S’Mores and a Chocolate fountain. Tickets to the event cost $15 and are available at Hair Barn.
Celebrate Mardi Gras early at the Mardi Gras 5K on Marietta Square. The race begins at 8 a.m. and it is followed by a 1k at 8:45 a.m. and a Tot Trot at 9 a.m. Registration for the run costs $30 and all proceeds will go toward all outreach sponsored by the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta.
Get in shape with your Valentine’s Day date at the Hearts and Soles 5k Run. The run will begin at Georgia Perimeter’s Decatur campus. Hearts and Soles is free to members of the Atlanta Track Club and ten dollars for all others. Organizers will be giving away a special award to couples wearing the best outfit.
For Gwinnett folks, the ‘Your Pace or Mine’ 5k will be held at Tribble Mill Park in Lawrenceville. Registration for the race begins at 8 a.m. and costs $27. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Gwinnett Parks Scholarship fund.
If you’re underwater on your mortgage, help is on the way. Wells Fargo, in conjunction with, the Georgia World Congress Center is hosting the ‘Neighborhood Lift Homeowner Help Seminar‘ on Saturday. Pre-registration for this event is closed, however, walk-in’s are allowed. The Neighborhood Lift program is for people who will be able to buy and close on a house in the City of Atlanta within sixty days.
