INDIANAPOLIS (Sporting Alert) — The New England Patriots, on the eve of Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVI clash against the New York Giants – has listed tight end Rob Gronkowski as questionable on the team’s injury report.
Gronkowski is still showing some discomfort with a left ankle problem he picked up against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game.
Gronkowski took the field for the second straight day after going through limited session on Thursday and it is believed he will be ready for the game Sunday.
“I think he’s doing better,” coach Bill Belichick said prior to the team going on the field on Saturday.
“I think he’s doing a little better each day.
“We’ll just have to see where things (are) and get through tomorrow.”
The Patriots, in the meantime, took sometime to enjoy Saturday with family and friends and Belichick was happy to just have a relaxing moment before the big game.
“It really is (good to see the players enjoy the day),” said Belichick. “These guys have worked hard, they’ve earned this trip.
“We know we’re here for a job but it’s also a fun thing to be part of this game so it’s fun to be seeing them enjoying it. This is what we all work for.
“To be here. You want to be here, you want to enjoy it, there’s a job to do but you want to be able to enjoy the trip.”
For the New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw was involved in all the scripted situations for the offense, though he remains probably with a sore right foot.
“He looked fine, no soreness, nothing you could notice,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said of him.
“This was all situational stuff, nothing unusual. It was a Saturday morning jog-thru, all situations.”
Defensive end Osi Umenyiora also took part in the final walkthrough session.
