While thumbing through one of those real estate magazines on Long Beach Island, N.J., recently, I couldn’t help but wonder if every single home in the upscale Loveladies community is for sale.
Named after Thomas Lovelady, an early settler of the area, Loveladies is an unincorporated, 2-mile long thin strip of Long Beach Township between Harvey Cedars and Barnegat Light boroughs.
Last week, I told of and tallied about $33 million worth of real estate that is listed for sale in Loveladies. But, there are so many properties for sale there, I couldn’t confine them to one column. So, here are some more – including a couple of surprises.
A “second from the ocean festive beach home with a pool” is up for grabs at $2.475 million.
Another home in the bay block, (with neither a bay nor ocean view) can be had for a mere (and it is a mere in Loveladies) $1.395 million.
Even cheaper is a home on one of Loveladies’ private lanes. It’s for sale at only $899,500, but it’s one of the goofiest looking homes on the island. Another place on another private lane, features a great room with vaulted ceilings, and is up for $1.999 million.
If you’d like a “beach house on a majestic dune,” a nice one’s for sale at $3.999 million. And, a nearby private compound is available for $3.8 million.
The Wave Watcher, a five-bedroom, reversed living beach house is yours for $3.999 million.
One of the premiere properties on Loveladies’ oceanfront was also among the elite “CNBC’s ‘America’s Coolest Beach Homes in 2010.’ ” It has five bedrooms (three of which are suites), an in-deck pool, a three-floor elevator and remote-controlled custom window treatments, among other amenities.
Hailed as one of the best homes ever built on LBI, I saw it listed at $7.25 million.
One property I hope is sold and lovingly cared for is a piece of Loveladies, Long Beach Island and New Jersey history.
U.S. Life Saving Station No. 21 was built in the mid-19th century, renovated into a five-bedroom residence in the 1990s, and is for sale, fully furnished, at $2.750 million. Oddly, although it was a life saving station built to rescue victims of shipwrecks, it is now six houses from the beach.
And although it’s not in Loveladies, but a few miles down island off Beach Haven, there is another property for sale that might interest you.
It is a private island.
Its home features 2,900 square feet of living space and 2,200 square feet of decks. The sale price of $3.48 million includes a 24-foot Garvey built specifically for the house. The island is visible from Beach Haven’s bayfront restaurants and park.
