Restaurants, bars and cafes across Wales are being given a chance to be listed on the first pan-Wales tourism app and mobile website to be launched during Wales Tourism Week 2012 (February 27– March 3).
The ‘Show Me Wales’ iphone/ipad app and mobile website will be a ‘one stop shop’ for visitors and locals, providing a comprehensive guide to things to see and do across the whole of Wales.
Information about attractions, activities, events and places to eat and drink will be available to users, who will also be able to book accommodation directly from their smart phone.
Restaurants, bars and cafes are being offered an opportunity to advertise their business on the app for a special introductory rate of £49 a year. Their entry will include text, images, contact information as well as a website/email address, opening hours, pricing and facilities.
Chief executive Val Hawkins said: “The app and mobile site will be useful for locals and visitors alike. It is designed to be used by visitors both pre-visit and whilst they are in Wales. The user-friendly design allows visitors to search, check out what’s ‘around me’ or opt for a featured area, product type or theme.
“It offers a sophisticated search facility so that when a visitor crosses the Welsh border the really clever bit kicks in. Using GPS technology, the app will locate the user and, using Google maps, will plot a range of tourist attractions, activities and even bookable accommodation within a user-specified radius.”
Businesses wishing to be listed should contact Zoe Hawkins at MWT on Tel: 01654 704093 as soon as possible.
