Various Events At Sewerby Hall And Gardens

While Sewerby Hall and Gardens event staff continue at full steam to plan the 2012-13 schedule of events, there is still much to see and do between January and March before the hall opens to the public on Saturday, 31 March.

Orienteering

Aimed mainly at families, this course has been designed by HALO (Humberside and Lincolnshire Orienteers) and uses various routes throughout the grounds ranging in skill from a short introductory course suitable for beginners, to a longer and more difficult course for the more competitive.

To complete a course, the control points should be visited in the order listed. To prove that the course has been completed in the correct order, the letter codes on the markers are written on the control card.

An orienteering pack costs £3.50 and is available from either the hall gift shop or estate office. The pack contains instructions, two maps, a control card, a pencil and a compass. Those finishing the course can apply for a certificate of completion from HALO.

Parkrun

The event is free but interested participants must register in advance online, where they will be given a link to their personal barcode. This barcode must be taken to the event for every run in order to take part.

Sewerby Hall and Gardens is the first stately home in the country to take part in this worldwide event and management at the venue are extremely proud to be part of it. All visitors can take advantage of 25 per cent discount at the Clock Tower Tea Rooms from 9-10am.

Walking for Health

CBBC Live ‘n’ Deadly

The activity presents children with a ‘wildlife crime scene’ and invites them to deduce who’s eaten who.

It is self-facilitated by families and takes 1-1.5 hours to complete. Each child is given a Deadly Detective’s booklet from the Estate Office before exploring the grounds to look for clues.

The booklet includes a range of activities, to encourage families to enjoy the nature and wildlife at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, and a series of puzzles which help children to solve the deadly scene. Children can then hand in their answers at the Clock Tower Tea Rooms to collect their reward which is a special code that unlocks exclusive content on Live ‘n’ Deadly’s online game.

This event is free and there is no need to book. Suitable for children aged between five and 13 and appropriate clothing is required to protect from the weather. Pens and pencils will be needed to complete the activities.

Wedding Fayre

Admission for the event is free and there will be various traders showing their wares, from flower arrangements to hand-made jewellery and chocolate fountains to wedding outfits.
