NEW year, new look – a beautiful country hotel has started 2012 with a rebrand.
Formerly known as Hook House Hotel, the large grade II listed Georgian house is now known simply as Hook House.
Timothy Bull, who runs the family-run business, set just off London Road, Hook, said: “I would like the business to be seen as a large Georgian House, as opposed to a small hotel.
“We want to levitate to the country house league, whilst maintaining a strong hotel ethic.”
Timothy said the hotel’s key asset is its land, location and personal service.
“I think this will be reflected better in the name change rather than the first unseen impression of a hotel that you may find on the internet.”
Timothy has noticed a change in internet search engine criteria when people are looking for a place to stay or hold an event like a wedding reception, which accounts for 35 per cent of business at
Hook House. He said many people search the internet for houses and stately homes as opposed to hotels.
Timothy said: “For nearly 20 years, I have been working hard to keep up with much larger hotels and what they offer, but I now feel we have all the tools we need in a house of this age and
importance.”
Timothy feels that nowadays the word hotel has too many connotations and can raise too many expectations such as offering gym and spa facilities.
Timothy said: “I plan to move forward without feeling the urge to keep up with larger brands who perhaps lead the way in innovation. What some of the larger hotels offer, I simply cannot do in a
350-year-old listed country house. However, what I can offer is that little bit of exclusivity.”
