SOUP DRIVE
May Community Center is accepting multiple varieties of canned
soup for area Huffman Independent School District families Jan.
9-30. The “Soup-er Bowl” drive is the perfect opportunity for
community members to help families in need by providing them with a
hot bowl of soup, a seasonal staple. All donations benefit
Huffman’s First Baptist Church food kitchen. Monetary donations are

HUFFMAN PATRIOTS
The Huffman Patriots will meet Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Cedar
Landing restaurant, 10614 FM 1960 E. in Huffman. Come early to have
dinner before the meeting. The guest speakers will be Carl Pittman,
Conservative candidate for Harris County sheriff, and Bobby Jordan,
Republican candidate for state representative District 127. For

CERT CLASSES
Community Emergency Response Team training will begin on Feb. 21
from 6:30-9:30 p.m. every Tuesday for eight weeks. Classes will be
held at the Phillip Cezeaux Community Center, 100 N. Houston Ave.,
Humble. Volunteers will be trained in fire suppression, disaster
medical, disaster search and rescue, disaster preparedness,
disaster psychology, and terrorism and how to identify dangers.
Upon completion of the course, volunteers will receive a photo ID,
certificate and backpack full of emergency supplies. Everything is
free. All courses are taught by qualified first responders and
chaplains. Pre-registration is required; contact Carole Chambers at
