Skaters have quite a few events to look forward to in February 2012. Here’s a quick rundown on several of the gnarly ones on tap:
Just Another Female Skateboarding Contest
The Just Another Female Skateboarding Contest is slated to take place at the Prahran Skatepark on Malvern Road in Melbourne, Australia, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on February 4th. It has long been considered the biggest ladies only skate event in the country. There will be a Game of Skate, Street Jam and Mini Jam on tap with a $3,000 prize purse up for grabs. All ladies interested in competing should log onto the event’s website.
Wellington Bowl-a-Rama
The Wellington Bowl-a-Rama will be taking place February 8th through the 11th, 2012 at the Waitangi Skate Park on Cable Street in Wellington, New Zealand. The competition is for pro and master competitors. It is expected to take place on February 11th. Art shows, exhibitions and live entertainment will also be a part of the illustrious event.
Annual Magic Show
The Annual MAGIC fashion industry trade show is expected to take place February 13th through the 15th, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Skate fans know to expect a plethora of skate demos, including the long ollie challenge, to take place during the event. Some of the skate companies listed on the exhibitor list include Zoo York, Vision Street Wear and LRG.
King of the Groms and King of the Ams
The King of the Groms and the King of the Ams Series will continue in February at the Kids that Rip Skatepark on North Gilbert Road in Mesa, Arizona. The contest will take place February 16th through the 19th. It is the last qualifier before the June 2012 championships. Those interested in participating should log onto the event’s website for additional details.
Manly Beach Bowl
The Manly Beach Bowl is slated to take place February 16th through the 19th at the Manly Beach Bowl on The Corso in Sydney, Australia. It is a pro and master’s bowl competition with an estimated $50,000 prize purse. Long time skate fans may recognize the kidney shaped bowl from other competitions like the Soul Bowl.
Vans Bondi Bowl-a-Rama
The Vans Bondi Bowl-a-Rama is scheduled to take place at the Bondi Skate Park in Bondi, Australia, from February 22nd through February 26th. The competition itself is set to take place at 10 a.m. on February 25th. There will be both pro and masters skate events with an estimated $80,000 prize purse on the line. In addition to the competition, a series of art shows and other skate related events are planned as well.
