CRIME WATCH: Woman’s house listed for sale fraudulently

A woman’s house on Meriwether Road was listed for rent even though she had only put it up for sale through a real estate agency, according to a report from the Clarksville Police Department.

The victim received a call from a woman interested in renting the home, which was fraudulently listed at $1,000 a month and also included electricity and Internet connection, according to the report. She told officers her 2,700-square-foot home would rent for easily double that.

The report said the woman discovered someone had made a legitimate listing of her home as being for sale on different websites and also made an email address that included her name.

On the fraudulent listing, the suspect states he and his family are being transferred to the United Kingdom and they decided to rent the house instead of sell it, the report said.

The victim told officers that as far as she knows, no one has sent the suspect money or shown up at her door saying they rented the house.

Man assaulted by group

A man was attacked in front of his apartment on Providence Boulevard Saturday night, according to a report from the Clarksville Police Department.

The report said the victim told officers everyone in the building except for two women came out and jumped him.

The responding officer checked several apartments, the occupants of which were either not home at the time of the incident or didn’t hear what was going on, the report said.

The victim was transported to Gateway Medical Center and, after a CT scan and examination by the ER doctor, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center because of the extent of his injuries.

Argument in car leads to assault

A woman and her ex-boyfriend were riding in her car Friday morning when an argument about their relationship escalated into an aggravated assault, according to a report from the Clarksville Police Department.

Decorey L. Jackson, 33, who gave a 220 Birch Road address, began threatening to hurt and kill his ex-girlfriend, the victim said. According to the report, the victim felt threatened and hit Jackson in the chest.

The report said Jackson grabbed her around the neck and tried to choke her, pulled the car over and took jumper cables from the car and tried choke her again.

The ex-girlfriend did not show any signs of injury and did not request medical attention. Jackson denied all accusations.

Jackson was charged with aggravated assault. His bond was set at $500.
