Well, Christmas is over — your family is stuffed on leftovers, and the kids have worn out batteries in their new toys and are reduced to playing with the boxes and torn-up wrapping paper. But the holiday celebrations aren’t over: We’ll ring in the new year Saturday night, at First Night Charlotte and other events.

Many local clubs and restaurants — the Brickhouse Tavern and Flatiron Kitchen in Davidson, and the Galway Hooker Pub and the Rusty Rudder in Cornelius, for example — have special New Year’s Eve festivities planned, leading up to the midnight hour and beyond.

There’s plenty going on in Davidson and surrounding communities during the week, as well — Davidson’s men’s basketball team returns from its Christmas break with a game against Penn on Thursday night at Belk Arena; and there’s live music at the Flatiron Kitchen, Summit Coffee and the Brickhouse on Wednesday through Friday nights.

These events — and more below — are in our day-by-day calendar at right. Also, at right on this page, see our movie show times listings for Our Town Cinemas.
