A burglar’s handwritten wishlist of houses and cars to raid complete with a list of tools needed to carry out the crimes has been released by the police after it was found in the street.
In the note – headed ‘Lined Up Grafts’ – the thief has listed where car keys have been left on show, bicycles have been left within easy reach and cash has been left on view.
In one entry, they wrote: ‘Jaguar, and others, keys in eyesight and window open’.
Target list: The list of properties and cars that are easy targets put together by a burglar. It was discovered in a street by police
Police said a man has since been sentenced to two
years for admitting carrying out some of the break-ins across Oldham and north Manchester that were planned on the
list.
The tools required to break into the properties include hammers, screwdrivers, a torch and a coat hanger.
Several of the entries noted how easy it would be to break into a house and steal the keys to the car outside.
The person who compiled the list wrote: ‘Look through back window. Key maybe behind door. Clawhammer.’
They also said: ‘Saab – keys behind door – new estate – hammer’
In Moston, Manchester, they noted: ‘Loads of notes on fireplace – Golf, gaf just off……Road’.
In the same area he wrote: ‘Mazda 6 – pop window – claw hammer – key maybe behind door.’
The list has released by Greater Manchester Police today to encourage homeowners to secure their properties after it was found in a street in Oldham.
Reformed burglar: Jason Fleming, 32, who broke into more than 150 properties, is leading an anti-crime campaign with Police Constable Andy Pickering
Police Constable Andy Pickering, of
Greater Manchester Police, said: ‘Thieves steal all year round but get
particularly busy during the Christmas and New Year period when homes
and cars are filled with presents making the items too good to resist
for any would-be thief.
‘This to-do list gives an insight on
how thieves identify their targets and should serve as a reminder to
householders on how to protect themselves from falling victim to crime.
‘While most thieves are
opportunistic, there are some who are more organised and will
systematically search out the weaknesses in your neighbourhood for the
easiest homes, cars, pedal bikes or other valuables on your property to
target and steal.’
Reformed criminal Jason Fleming, 32, jailed for six years in 2006 after committing 150 burglaries, said: ‘I never used lists. It’s most probably come from someone who wanted some stuff and wrote it down, just to help to remember people’s homes.
‘They have obviously been clocking stuff through windows like the car keys are here near the window or there’s money left on the side.
‘Someone has obviously been walking around casing the joint.’
Pc Pickering added: ‘Being a victim of theft is hard at any time of the year but is particularly so during this special period in the calendar. You can help yourself by putting into action your own “to-do” list to stop thieves going to work in your community.’

” It’s most probably come from someone who wanted some stuff and wrote it down, just to help to remember people’s homes.” said criminal (reformed or not that’s what he is) Jason Fleming. That’s what he would like you to think. Most likely written down by the passenger in one of these Transit pick ups touring the estates ostensibly searching for scrap. He can pass the details on to some other low-life who will do the dirty and bring the motors to him. You wouldn’t need exact addresses, just a rough area and what car/s are on the drive.

I bet his English teacher is embarrassed!

This is the most obvious fake ever. Yes it’s been done for a good cause, to try and get home owners to be more responsible, but it’s still a fake. Why would a burglar write a list of “jobs” without putting an address by each entry?

Why should I have to secure my property against these thieves. It is my property not theirs to take. Proper jail terms will make them think before they act. Prison too soft, let’s get back to Victorian values, orf with their heads.
