A listing for what looks to be Centro Restaurant, 3819 N. Ashland Ave., has appeared on the Multiple Listing Service in recent days. Although the listing is for 3600 N. 9999 Ave., the photograph accompanying the listing is clearly the problem restaurant that drew dozens of neighbor complaints and unwanted extra attention from the Chicago Police.
Listed for $299,000, the property includes, “Fully furnished bar/restaurant with outdoor beer garden and parking. Chefs kitchen on two floors with large walk in coolers and ample space for storage. Corporately held liquor license with retail food. Brand New build out, fully refurbished,” according to the listing.
Neighbors charge Centro is a thinly-veiled illegal nightclub operating with only a restaurant’s incidental liquor license and no permits for live entertainment. In September and October, Ald. Ameya Pawar reportedly met with Centro’s owner, Pavel Vrzal, to warn him that if the restaurant did not change its ways, the liquor license could be in jeopardy.
Reached on the phone in October, the club’s manager, Jeff Vasilas, said the owner was “debating” a sale of the restaurant.
