• ALGONA — Tacos for Tots fundraiser, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the
United Methodist Church.

• MASON CITY — Charles City, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Decorah,
Perry and Valley Junction of West Des Moines will be recognized at
a reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Historic Park Inn, 15 West State
St., to mark their graduation from the Iowa Great Places program.
Gov. Terry Branstad will deliver remarks. The public is invited.
Tickets are $15.

• MASON CITY — An informational meeting about chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) will be 4 to 6 p.m. at the
Mason City Public Library. A screening test will also be available
for members of the public to learn if they are at risk.

• MASON CITY — Dr. Loren Olson, a Des Moines psychiatrist and
author of “Finally Out: Letting Go of Living Straight,” will speak
and sign copies of his book at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church,
100 S. Pierce Ave. The event is sponsored by PFLAG -North Iowa. All
are welcome to attend.
