Church events for the holiday season listed

Our churches have lots of programs, music and activities planned for the season. Here’s a rundown of events that were provided by local churches:

Cairo United Methodist Church, 13510 U.S. 41-Alternate: Dec. 1-2, 7-9 p.m., and Dec. 3, 1-4 p.m., “Journey to Bethlehem,” live re-enactment of the Christmas story with shepherds, Roman guards, marketplace and music. Free guided tours every 20 minutes.

First United Methodist, 338 Third St: Dec. 3, “Tis The Season: Our Gift to The Community” chili lunch and giveaway of stuffed animals and toiletries, immediately following the downtown Christmas parade; Dec. 24, Christmas Eve services with Christmas cantata “Lead Me Back to Bethlehem,” 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. with passing of the light and communion service; Dec. 25, Christmas Day service, 10 a.m., music by adult vocal ensembles.
