On Friday, Eagles coach Andy Reid refused to rule out
quarterback Michael Vick for Sunday’s game against the New York
Giants.
Vick missed his third straight day of practice after suffering
two broken ribs against Arizona, but Reid listed him as
questionable on the official injury report, indicating that there’s
a 50-50 chance he’ll play against the Giants.
“You know what? I’m taking it day-by-day and just seeing how he
does,” Reid said Friday in quotes provided by the team. “He made
improvement from (Thursday), so I’m going to see how he far he goes
(today).
“He hasn’t thrown or done anything, but he’s come to all the
meetings and done the brain work. Let’s just see if it calms down a
little bit.”
If Vick doesn’t play, Vince Young will start against the
Giants.
Young, who has appeared for just three plays all season, took
all the reps with the starting offense again Friday and pronounced
himself ready to play.
“I feel like we had a good week of practice,” Young said in
quotes provided by the team. “The guys were in tune and bringing a
lot of confidence. I really feel like with the behind the scenes
working and studying, we have gotten down a lot of the plays and
getting things going.”
Young is expected to be in the lineup Sunday. Vick has never
played a game after not practicing all week.
Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin also has been listed as questionable
with a sprained shoulder and strained hamstring. If he doesn’t
play, second-year wide receiver Riley Cooper will start.
Wide receiver DeSean Jackson will be back after being
deactivated last week for missing a special teams meeting last
Saturday.”I just want to put everything else behind myself and move
forward to help my teammates and organization clean up all of the
mess that we’ve gone through since the beginning of the season,”
Jackson said in quotes provided by the team.
Extra points: Offensive lineman King Dunlap (concussion) and
cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (sprained ankle) won’t play
against the Giants. Guard Evan Mathis will be back in the lineup
after missing a game with turf toe. Joselio Hanson will take
Rodgers-Cromartie’s spot as the No. 3 cornerback. Backup defensive
end Brandon Graham is listed as questionable with a rib
contusion.
