If you don’t already spend your time hanging around at Harvard and MIT, plan to this week.

Harvard Tech Meetup, Tuesday. It’s planned to be the first in a monthly series of free events, featuring startup demos and networking. Tuesday’s event will feature rockstar VC Bijan Sabet of Spark Capital as a guest speaker. The Eventbrite page says all the tickets but that you can get wait-listed if you sign up. The event is spearheaded by the Harvard Business School Startup Tribe, a student club. 7 to 10 p.m., HBS Burden Auditorium, Allston

• Harvard Innovation Lab grand opening, Friday. It’s been in use to some degree for a few months, including during the Startup Weekend event (this past weekend.) But Friday will mark the official launch and is expected to include Boston Mayor Tom Menino and Harvard President Drew Faust. 12:30 p.m., 125 Western Ave., Allston

MIT Venture Capital Conference, Friday. The 14th annual event will include speakers (Kenneth Hap Klopp, Brad Feld Chris Gabrieli), panels and a startup showcase. The theme: “Jumpstarting an Innovation Economy.” Tickets appear are still available as of Monday morning; it’s organized by the MIT Venture Capital Private Equity Club. 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Boston Cambridge Marriot Hotel in Kendall Square

There are also two deadlines coming up quick for local startups looking for some acceleration:

TechStars Boston — application deadline is Sunday, Nov. 20

Betaspring — application deadline is Friday, Nov. 18
