Children’s color pages will be on display Nov. 10 and will be voted on by local veterans. Winners will be notified Nov. 17, and prizes will be awarded in each grade level.
— A Veterans Day craft for children is scheduled for 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Golden Meadow Branch Library, 1403 N. Bayou Drive.
— A Veterans Day open house honoring local veterans is scheduled for 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Lockport Branch Library, 720 Crescent Ave. Refreshments will be provided. During the open house, and throughout November, residents can view a photo display honoring local veterans. Those who like to add their photo or those family members or friends should bring a photo to the library, so that staff can make a copy to be included in the display.
— A Veterans Day social is scheduled for 4 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Raceland Branch Library, 177 Recreation Drive. There will be refreshments and live music by Hoyt Cassel Jr.
— The seventh annual Veterans Health and Benefits Fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Terrebonne Parish Main Library, 151 Library Drive, Houma. Various agencies will be representing promoting services available to veterans. The event will feature refreshments, door prizes and giveaways. — A Veterans Day movie matinee is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Bayou Blue Branch Library, 198 Mazerac St. “The Green Berets” will be shown.
— A Veterans Day program is scheduled for 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Choctaw Branch Library. The Sixth Ward Middle School band will perform “The Star Spangled Banner” as the American flag is raised. Photos of Sixth Ward veterans will be on display. Local veterans will judge entries in the library’s Veterans Day coloring contest for children. Refreshments will be served.
— An annual Veterans Day breakfast for local veterans is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Martha Sowell Utley Memorial Library, 314 St. Mary St., Thibodaux.

— A Veterans Day open house is scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Larose Branch Library, 305 E. Fifth St. Veterans and their family members are invited to attend the open house aimed at honoring all those who served. During the open house, community members can create “thank you” cards that will be sent to military service members who are currently serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. All supplies will be provided.
