Since then she has been thoroughly game, with wins at Chester and Musselburgh, and has performed with great credit in Listed company on her last three outings.
Excellette was beaten just three-quarters of a length by Kohala at Newbury, after which she was third in the Roses Stakes at York.
Arguably her best run, however, was when she beat all bar Kevin Ryan’s top-class Bogart in the big Redcar race for juveniles.
That race was dominated by horses drawn high, so she did especially well to get involved from stall six.
Strictly on the figures, she is only rated inferior to Mick Channon’s Miss Lahar but that one will be having her fourth run inside five weeks and might just feel it a bit.
Charlie Hills’ Qannaas is expected to step up markedly on his debut run in the Christine Kilker Memorial EBF Maiden Stakes.
The Hard Spun colt was fourth at Warwick, when sent off a short-priced favourite, so he had obviously been showing plenty at home on the gallops.
He missed the break and pulled too hard, with jockey Richard Hills never overly aggressive once his chance had gone.
It would be no surprise at all if he markedly stepped up on that performance.
Parc De Launay is fancied to get back to winning ways in the NGK Spark Plugs Conditions Stakes.
After winning his first two starts, the wheels somewhat fell off when he was stepped up in class.
No match for Harbour Watch in the Richmond Stakes, he was then way off the pace in a big sales race at York.
However, Tom Tate’s inmate shaped with much more promise on his return to the Knavesmire last time out, finishing fifth of 20 in a decent nursery when Jamie Spencer explored every inch of the final furlong.
Back in a small field, he may be more at home.

His form tailed off after a good win first time out last year, but he did run in the Racing Post Chase and the Topham at Aintree.
Secret Desert should also go well in the oddschecker.com Handicap Hurdle at Uttoxeter.
