BIG literary events over the next few weeks!

It’s that time of year. So many literary events, so little time.

I could write at length about all of the events listed below. Each is special in its own way and worth attending. Try!

• The Tweens Read Festival welcomes students in grades 5-8 and other fans of children’s literature to meet several authors, including Crystal Allen, Michael Buckley, Kat Falls, Matthew Kirby and Andrea White, 10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 29), Bobby Shaw Middle School, 1201 Houston, Pasadena; tweensread.com.

Jewish Book Arts Fair offers two weeks of films, concerts and authors including Dennis Prager and Rabbi Joseph Telushkin (Sunday, Oct. 30); Kostya Kennedy (Tuesday, Nov. 1); Marc Ostrofsky (Thursday, Nov. 3); Meir Shalev (Thursday, Nov. 3); Amy Ephron (Nov. 10); Steven Fenberg (Nov. 13) and others, strong Oct. 30 through Nov. 13. Writers in the Schools (WITS) hosts its annual benefit and silent auction, A Celebration of Story, 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 at Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks Ln. The evening honors former WITS writer and Houston novelist Katherine Center and features music from legendary Texas songwriter Allen Shamblin. Proceeds will provide yearlong literacy programs for underserved students in schools, hospitals, community centers, parks, hospitals, and homeless shelters. Houston Book Fair includes more than 20 dealers from across the country in subjects including children’s books, Texana, mysteries, historical documents, out-of-print, first editions, comics, and more, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 5, Museum of Printing History, 1324 W. HOUSTON CHRONICLE BOOK AUTHOR DINNER welcomes Chef John Besh, Anthony Horowitz, Sylvia Nasar, Calvin Trillin and Colson Whitehead, 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, Norris Center’s Red Oak Ballroom, CityCentre, 800 W.
