EMC FAIR AND RODEO

The East Montgomery County Fair Association will continue the
2011 EMC Fair and Rodeo festivities with livestock shows Sept.
14-16 with the buyer’s dinner and auction on Sept. 17. For more

CELL PHONE COLLECTION

New Caney Eastern Star Chapter is collecting no-longer-used
wireless phones and their accessories to benefit victims of
domestic violence. This is a HopeLine program that benefits both
victims and the environment. The phones will be cleaned of all
data, and then can only be used to dial 911. The collection date is
Sept. 17 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Sam B. Crawford Lodge, 20625
Lodge Road in New Caney.

COMMISSIONER RINEHART GOLF TOURNAMENT

The third annual Montgomery County Commissioner Ed Rinehart Golf
Tournament will be held Sept. 23 at Oakhurst Golf Course, 20700
Mills Branch Drive in Porter. Breakfast will be served at the
country club from 7:30-8 a.m. followed by registration. There will
be a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Dinner and an awards ceremony will be
held after the tournament. The cost is $150 per individual player
or $600 for a team of four. Sponsorships are also available at many
levels. The registration deadline is Sept. 16. To register or for

MISSION NORTHEAST LUNCHEON, STYLE SHOW

Mission Northeast will host its eighth annual “One Life at a
Time” Luncheon and Style Show Sept. 26. The doors of the East
Montgomery County Improvement District Complex will open at 11 a.m.
for guest check-in and an opportunity to bid on silent auction
packages. Lunch will be provided by Amedeo’s with fall fashions
from Palais Royal. All proceeds from the luncheon benefit Mission
Northeast programs. Sponsor tables are available, but selling out
fast, and reservations are necessary to ensure seating
availability. Tables for eight may be reserved at various sponsor

BARBECUE COOKOFF

Piney Woods VFW Post 4816 in Porter will host the Piney Woods
Classic BBQ Cook-off Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. Festivities will include
entertainment, a lotto board, auction, raffle and 50/50 drawing.
The fundraiser is open to the public. The post is located at 24411

KINGWOOD AREA QUILT GUILD

The Kingwood Area Quilt Guild invites all visitors to its next
meeting Oct. 6. The guest speaker will be Ginny Eckley, an
internationally known artist, teacher and author, who will give a
lecture and trunk show. The guild meets the first Thursday of the
month at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 2929 Woodland Hills Drive
in Kingwood, at 7 p.m. for social time and refreshments, followed
at 7:30 with a brief business meeting, a lecture by a national
speaker, show and tell, lottery block drawings, door prizes and
