The University of West Florida is listed as a second-tier national university in U.S. News and World Report’s 2012 Best Colleges list, which was released Tuesday.
UWF was listed among 280 schools in the National Universities division but received no specific rank. The university received the same designation in the magazine’s 2011 rankings.
The magazine ranked 202 universities in the list, followed by UWF and 65 other schools, including the University of South Alabama in Mobile and Florida AM University in Tallahassee, whose ranks were unpublished. Those schools comprise the list’s Tier 2. Twelve colleges were not ranked.
Schools in the National Universities division award a wide range of undergraduate, master’s and doctorate degrees.
The University of Florida and Florida State University were ranked No. 58 and No. 101, respectively, in the National Universities division.
Harvard University and Princeton University tied for the No. 1 ranking.
