Many families from the Bridle Path who have $4-million and $5-million homes on Stoney Lake are drawn to the area by its peace and privacy, says listing agent Richard Ling of Harvey Kalles Real Estate. “It’s an alternative to Muskoka, which can be too busy.”

This property, listed for $5.9-million, is extra special, commanding a higher price because it has 770 feet of water frontage and is only one of two properties in the area that has a point, Mr. Ling says.

As well, this turn-key home offers approximately 8,000 square feet of luxuriously appointed living space. “No expense has been spared,” he says. “The main residence rises up from the Cambrian Shield like a fortress of stone and log.”

The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom home has two master bedrooms that have ensuite spas and sitting rooms.

High ceilings, fireplaces and water views from all of the principal rooms are among the highlights. The dining room has a wall with square niches designed for artwork. A fireplace in a sitting alcove, walkouts to a wrap-around terrace, and a tin ceiling, a fireplace and an oversized breakfast area in the kitchen are other features.

Each of the home’s bathrooms is different, and each is a little gem, Mr. Ling says. “The home was not built for show, just for enjoyment.”

A barbecue, an inground pool that overlooks the water and stone pathways leading to a boat house and a dock are features of the three-acre property. Other highlights include a 439-sq.-ft. studio, and a spiral staircase in the self-contained two-level 392-sq.-ft. loft suite.

The house was used as a location in the movie Cheaper by the Dozen Two, starring Steve Martin, Taylor Lautner and Hilary Duff.

A variety of people will find this home appealing. There are always international buyers, but a Canadian may enjoy this property most. If they don’t know anyone in the area, they might feel isolated here, Mr. Ling says.

“The nearby golf course is a mingling point but after the socializing is done, homeowners all retreat to their own private paradise. It’s the lifestyle. People want to live the way they want to live and respect each other’s privacy.”
