Home, site of family murders, up for sale

COLUMBIA, Ill. — The southwestern Illinois home where a former
Marine killed his wife and two sons is for sale.

The two-story, three-bedroom home is in Columbia, about 15 miles
southeast of St. Louis. It was home to Christopher Coleman, who is
serving a life sentence for strangling his wife Sheri Coleman and
their 11- and 9-year-old sons in 2009.

Star Realtors, of Granite City, has listed the home with an
asking price of $181,000.

It is listed with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development.

Driver accused in drunken driving crash

TOWN OF SUGAR CREEK, Wis. — An intoxicated driver is accused of
blowing a stop sign and causing a fatal crash in Walworth
County.

Sheriff’s deputies said the crash happened at an intersection in
the Town of Sugar Creek at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators said a 21-year-old Palmyra man was drunk when he
missed the stop sign and collided with a pickup truck. The driver
of the truck, 40-year-old Kelly Agnes, of Elkhorn, was killed.

Man gets 24 years for assaulting girl

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — A 52-year-old central Illinois man has been
sentenced to 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to repeated
sexual assaults of a girl.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reported that William Bannan, of
Gridley, was sentenced Tuesday in McLean County Court. He pleaded
guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault.

Prosecutor Jacob Harlow asked for a 60-year sentence for what he
called “the most vile and deviant” of crimes.

Court testimony indicated Bannan knew the child and assaulted
her a number of times.

Sheley motions for 2 judge removals

MORRISON, Ill. — An Illinois man accused of killing eight
people in two states has motioned to have two judges removed from
his Whiteside County case.

The Daily Gazette in Sterling reported 32-year-old Nicholas
Sheley was to be arraigned Tuesday in Morrison on first-degree
murder charges.

But as Judge Stanley Steines read the charges, Sheley presented
a handwritten motion seeking a judge substitution.

Prosecutors objected, but Steines granted the motion and passed
the case to Judge John Hauptman.

Sheley filed a second handwritten motion seeking Hauptman’s
removal.

Man charged after bonfire explosion

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — A West Bend man is accused of sparking a
bonfire explosion that left at least six people with serious
burns.

Kyle W. De Ruyter was charged Tuesday with seven felony counts
of injury by negligent handling of fire. The charges carry a
maximum penalty of 10 1/2 years in prison.

The 25-year-old was attending a bonfire at a Campbellsport home
in June. Prosecutors said he tried to feed the fire by pouring
gasoline on it and flames traveled up the gas stream.

He allegedly dropped the gas can into the fire.

Weather service confirms 2 tornadoes

NEILLSVILLE, Wis. — The National Weather Service confirms that
a couple of tornadoes touched down in Wisconsin, damaging houses,
barns and trees.

The weather service said an EF2 tornado with winds of 135 mph
hit Clark County near Chili about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

A weaker, EF0 tornado touched down about 7 p.m. in Shawano
County.
