PLANS for 14 new homes on the former Reps Health Studio site in Grafton Road have been submitted for approval by Worthing Borough Council.
Part of the listed, mid-Victorian buildings complex will be demolished, and the remainder converted into one two-bedroom flat, two one-bedroom flats, and six studio flats.
The rest of the scheme will consist of two-bedroom town houses and one-bedroom flats.
A planning submission says the existing building presents a “strong, architectural composition and form”, and any attempt to strike a “distinctly modernistic form would be visually disruptive and inappropriate”.
Permission for a health club on the site was granted in 1987, but Reps closed last year because of unsustainable overheads.
