Don King, the American boxing promoter, has recently sold his two contiguous properties in Manalapan for $15,950,000. The two main estates, with 17,726 square feet of living area, sold for $900 per square foot. Built in 1994, the properties have nine bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Included are marble and carpeted floors, a wet bar and fireplace. The estates sit on more than three acres and 300 feet of waterfront on the Intracoastal with gardens, courtyards, a tennis court, two pools and fountains.
In 2010, the taxes were $152,444, reflecting no homestead exemption. Located at 920 S. Ocean Blvd., the properties were listed with Jack Elkins for $19,995,000 at the time of sale. Christian Angle was the selling agent; the new owner is 900 South Ocean Blvd LLC.
Star Island
Jeannette Varela, president of Florida Equipment Parts, has sold her Miami Beach home on Star Island for $10.75 million. Built in 1925, the home of 15,000 square feet, sold for $717 per square foot. The Mediterranean estate has 12 bedrooms, 13 full bathrooms, and one half bathroom. It includes marble and wood floors, a fireplace and a grill. Located at 27 Star Island Dr., it also has a two-story guest home, a three-car garage, a pool and 100 feet of deep water dockage.
In 2010 taxes were $123,778, reflecting a homestead exemption. The property was listed with Rafael Arias for $12,950,000 at the time of sale. The new owner is Starboard Florida IV, LLC; Brett Harris was the selling agent.
Cocoplum
Michael Haskett is the new owner of 21 Tahiti Beach Island Rd. The Cocoplum estate sold for $7.5 million, or $662 per square foot. The home, with 11,336 square feet of living area, has seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms and one half bathroom. Built in 1991, it features wood and marble floors, an elevator, fireplace, grill and wraparound porch. The Mediterranean estate has a home theater for eight, a fitness room, separate guest house and pool. It sits on 120 feet of bay front property and includes a dock, boat lift and davits. Andrew and Dawn Steinberg have sold their “Villa Atlantique” in Fort Lauderdale for $5,650,000, or $690 per square foot. The estate, with 8,190 square feet of living area, has six bedrooms and 6 1/2 bathrooms. It has marble and carpet floors, a bar, elevator, grill, impact glass, a generator, wraparound porch and a three-car garage. The estate includes a master suite with private balcony, a library, media room, separate guest house, pool and resort-style poolside gym. Located at 2416 N. Atlantic Blvd., the home sits on 53 feet of ocean front property.
Taxes in 2010 were $70,726, not reflecting a homestead exemption. It was listed with Julie Jones for $6.995 million at the time of sale, but had been listed as early as February 2010 for $7,495,000.
