When a Toronto woman was scanning online marketplace Kijiji and found a unique, customized bicycle for sale, she promptly contacted police.

The bike was hers and had been stolen, police allege.

After the woman filed a report using the police service’s new online crime reporting system, plainclothes officers showed up at an address near Don Mills Rd. and Fairview Mall Dr., under the pretense of buying the bicycle.

Police arrested one man at the address.

Ali Piroutzadeh, 20, was charged Thursday with possession of stolen property.

Some crimes can be reported to police by using an online registry.
