For now, it looks like the Washington Nationals dodged a bullet when it comes to Michael Morse‘s injury. The Nationals’ slugger, who had to leave Thursday’s game against the Cubs after getting drilled in the forearm with a pitch, told Bill Ladson of MLB.com that the injury is just a contusion and is not expected to be serious.
In a text message, #Nats 1B Michael Morse said he has a left elbow contusion. He expects to be OK. Morse is listed as day-to-day. #MLB.
That’s good news for the Nationals, because it initially looked like Morse’s injury could be serious. He was plunked in the forearm in the seventh inning, and left the field holding his arm. He has been the best hitter for the team this season, with a .320 average and 20 home runs on the season. He’s currently third in the National League in batting average, despite a slow start.
