Hollywood star Val Kilmer has been hit with a demand for unpaid child support by his ex-wife, British actress Joanne Whalley.
She has taken out a legal charge against the Top Gun star after he failed to keep up a reported $27,500 (£16,000) a month in agreed child support for their two children.
The 46-year-old actress and Kilmer were divorced in 1996 after an eight year marriage.
Legal drama: Val Kilmer’s ex wife Joanne Whalley claims he has fallen behind in child support payments
They have two children, Mercedes, 19, and Jack, 16, and according to court documents obtained by TMZ they reveal he agreed to pay $27,500 a month in child maintenance.
Ex: The actor and Whalley in 1989
Whalley, best known for her role as call girl Christine Keeler in the 1989 film Scandal, has taken the court action after he ex husband fell behind on the monthly payments.
Court documents reveal that she has taken out a lien on his 6,000 acre New Mexico ranch.
A lien is the US term for a court order that prevents a property being sold without the person issuing the order from being notified.
The court documents show that it is
not the first time Whalley, who lives in Los Angeles, has moved to
secure a debt payment on 51 year old Kilmer’s home.
He owed her money in 2007, but the lien was removed in 2008 after the situation was resolved.
Kilmer, one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the 1990s, has been trying to sell ranch for the last two years.

He originally listed the property for £20m in 2009, but with the property slump in the US slashed the price to £11.5m.
Called Pecos River Ranch, it is about 30 miles east of Santa Fe, has about six miles of popular trout-fishing river running through the estate which can be rented as a bed and breakfast.
The property includes a main house built of logs with four bedrooms and four baths, with an attached guest house.
There are several additional staff and guest houses, as well as an equestrian complex.
Kilmer is no stranger to financial problems as last year it was reported he owed nearly £300,000 in unpaid U.S. federal taxes.
He was once one of the biggest stars of the 1990s, appearing as Batman in Batman Forever in 1993 and as Simon Templar in Hollywood’s version of the British TV classic The Saint.
He and Whalley met while filming the fantasy film Willow in 1986.
Klimer later complained that he only found out he was being divorced after seeing a report on CNN.
His career stalled in the 2000s and as he weight ballooned lead roles dried up.
Whalley, who has continued acting in TV, has refused to comment on the court action.

Why is he expected to support a 19 year old? Not sure he is ‘deadbeat,’ sounds to me like he is out of cash.

Daddy Longlegs did you actually read the article? It clearly states in the last paragraph that Joanne Whally “has continued acting in TV”.

Loved him in Tombstone but saw an interview with him a year or so ago he couldn’t string two words together. Think he was in a play but it certainly didn’t make you want to go see it.
