Kate Middleton’s Golf Listed on eBay

A ten year old Volkswagen Golf reportedly owned by Kate Middleton has been listed on eBay with a hefty starting price of £20,000!

Kate Middleton now known as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge is said to have purchased the car back in 2001 for just over £10,000, before giving to her brother James in February 2007. The car was then sold by James to Motor Carriage co, a car dealership owned by Al Brazil, the father of Sonny Brazil, who has put the car up for sale on the popular online auction site.

Sonny told The Daily Mail “I went to an auction house in Dorset a few weeks ago and they said it would be worth £30,000 pounds plus, purely because of the name in the log book,” The listing was posted on eBay shortly after.

A pair of St Andrew sterling silver cufflinks found in the car were originally to be sold along with the vehicle, although it could not be confirmed whether they had belonged to Prince William or Kate’s brother James. The owner of the car has since decided to return the cufflinks to the Middleton family saying, “Please note the cuff-links are no longer for sale, after careful consideration I feel these may have personal connections to the Middleton’s. So I have decided to pass the cuff-links back to the Middleton family. I feel that this is where they belong regardless of any value.”

The 3 door 1.4 litre Volkswagen is reported to have clocked up 60,000 miles in the six years that Kate owned it, and was photographed receiving parking tickets on a number of occasions. Receipts for work carried out on the car will be included in the sale along with the all important Log Book containing the previous keeper’s details. The listing can be viewed here.

Realistically this Golf is worth around £2,000, does the Royal provenance of the vehicle really merit a ten-fold increase in value though? The VW has yet to receive any bids  just over six days left to run.
