1. The IronBirds Win, 9-4. The IronBirds scored early against the Vermont Lake Monsters Sunday night, with four-run lead in the first inning, according to the team’s press office. Sammie Starr and Joe Velleggia scored home runs for Aberdeen.

If you love to sing harmony and you’re looking for a place to sing and be a part of group, come check us out on Monday evenings in the Fellowship Hall at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. The Upper Chesapeake Chorus is an extraordinary group of more than 40 women who gather together to celebrate barbershop music. As of April 30, 2011, our chorus is the new First Place chorus in Region 19 (the Atlantic Bay-Mountain Region) of Sweet Adelines International.

A fine arts show, sponsored by the Wilson Ministry Center in the village of Darlington, will be held Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25, 2011. This juried show is open to all artists in the Harford, Cecil, Baltimore and lower Pennsylvania county region.

Mail up to three photos of your work with $15 entry fee payable to the Wilson Ministry Center (tax deductible) to: Ms. Nancy Welsh, 2122 Shuresville Rd., Darlington, MD 21034. Deadline is Wednesday, August 31. No photography, prints or computer generated art will be accepted. Entry fee and 10 percent of sales benefit the Wilson Center.
