Happy Independence Day! Following are events planned for Monday afternoon and night in the Gazette’s readership area:
Beloit
The annual Pops on the Rock concert starts at 6 p.m. Monday, July 4, at the Harry Moore Pavilion. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. with fireworks to follow. The concert features the Beloit-Janesville Symphony Orchestra. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Admission is free. Food is available for purchase. Brodhead
A parade begins at noon at 11th Street on West 3rd Avenue and ends at County E. Fireworks are at dusk on the south end of the city—East 3rd Avenue behind McDonalds.
City of Delavan
A parade will take place downtown at 3 p.m., and fireworks will take place at 9 p.m. at Veterans Park. For more information, call (262) 728-5585, Ext. 2.
Edgerton
Edgerton’s celebration Monday at Racetrack Park includes a horse-pulling event.
Evansville
Events at Lake Leota Park today include kids activities from noon to 4 p.m., Lion’s chicken barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Evansville Youth Center ducky derby at 3 p.m., lunker lob and minnow races from 1 to 5 p.m., Home Talent Baseball at 6 p.m.. The festival tent is open from noon to midnight. Westside Andy and the Mel Ford Band will perform from 5 to 9 p.m. Fireworks are at dusk. Fontana
The Big Foot Lions Club on Monday is sponsoring Fontana 4th Fest at Reid Park.
Drinks and food will be sold from noon to 9 p.m. A fireworks show is set for 9 p.m.
Geneva Township
A parade will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday on Lake Shore Drive at Acacia Road.
Janesville
Rock Aqua Jays Independence Day on the Rock runs from 11 a.m. to dusk at Traxler Park, 600 N. Main St., downtown Janesville.
Activities include beer tent from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Rock County Pullers garden tractor pull at noon; inflatable jump house for kids ($5 for unlimited use) from noon to 6 p.m.; “Anything That Floats� race at 2 p.m.; RuffCutz performance in the beer tent from 2 to 6 p.m.; Janesville Idol Contest at 3 p.m.; Rock Aqua Jays water ski show at 7 p.m.; fireworks at dusk
Milton
Events Monday include another full day of softball, Milton Muskrats Youth Baseball throughout the afternoon and the Optimist Run. A parade begins at 1 p.m., and helicopter rides run from 2 p.m. until dusk.
Joe Roberts will perform at Lamar Park from 3 to 5 p.m., the UW-Marching Band’s Fifth-Quarter Show will be at 7:30 p.m. and Rainbow Bridge will perform throughout the evening. Fireworks will be at dusk.
Whitewater
The Fourth of July celebration in downtown Whitewater and Cravath Lakefront Park includes live music and entertainment. The festival concludes at 10 p.m. Monday with a fireworks show.
