Almost 300 buildings and structures have been put forward for a “roll of honour” in Hartlepool.
People in the town were asked by Hartlepool Borough Council to nominate buildings, memorials, gardens and other places and objects they considered were important.
A draft list has been prepared and the 287 owners involved are being contacted to ask their views.
The proposals for the list will be put out for consultation later this year.
The idea of the list is to recognise places that residents value along with the 200 listed buildings in the borough.
Council landscape planning and conservation manager Sarah Scarr said: “We were delighted by the response to our request for nominations – it really captured people’s imaginations and we have received a lot of interesting suggestions.”
