The Zingo roller coaster that once thrilled guests at Bell’s Amusement Park has recently appeared for sale on Facebook. The classic coaster is listed for sale on the profile page of International Rides Management, a company that is working with Bell’s Amusement Park to sell the ride and its trains. The coaster is listed on their “Summer 2011 Ride Coaster List” simply as “1968 PTC Wooden Coaster.” No price is listed for the coaster, other than the statements of “IRM Exclusive Price! Instillation Available! Call for Pricing!” (International Ride Management Facebook Page).
Zingo has been defunct since 2006 when, according to Tulsa World, the park was closed when the Tulsa County fair board did not renew its lease. The coaster was dismantled and put into storage in 2007 to prevent degradation of the wood and mechanical components of the coaster.
The coaster first appeared on Facebook when International Rides Management posted six pictures of the coaster under the headline of “1968 PTC Wooden Coaster / 2000 PTC 3 Bench Train.” Also, accompanying the photos and headline was the caption of, “1968 John Allen designed wooden coaster. Includes one 2000 PTC train. Replacement track package available. Train is available individually also. Premier Rides USA Topper Track available AT COST for this ride!” The information about the coaster was posted to the Facebook page on June 20 at 7:50pm.
This is not the first time that Zingo has been put up for sale on the internet; the coaster was also listed on the auction website eBay in January. At that time, the coaster was listed under the “Buy it Now” price of $400,000. Apparently, that sales effort was unsuccessful as the coaster is now listed on Facebook.
Zingo was built in 1968 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company and, as the photo caption said, was designed by the famous John Allen. The coaster stood at a height of 72 feet tall and had a length of 2675 feet.
Zingo is not the only coaster for sale on Facebook by International Rides Management. Also found on their Facebook is the iconic Dania Beach Hurricane that once operated at Boomer’s in Florida as well as other coasters, coaster trains, and thrill rides.
We will keep you updated on any further developments and/or purchases of Zingo.
