Royal Leamington Spa has long been a Midlands hotspot with its open spaces, attractive Regency and Georgian architecture and excellent transport links. Local agent Knight Frank say that the spa town’s housing market is thriving with townhouses proving increasingly popular.

Judith Archer, associate with Knight Frank’s Stratford upon Avon office says: “We’re finding that quality properties in Leamington Spa are very much in demand. Last month we sold Arden House on the popular Northumberland Road. We had 25 viewings on the property over a 15 day period and received eight offers all from cash buyers, ready to move and agreed a sale in excess of the guide price.

“We have also recently agreed sales on 58 Binswood Avenue; a stucco fronted Grade II listed six bedroom Regency town house situated in the heart of the town marketed with a guide price of £895,000 and Westering on Cloister Way – a superb example of 1950s architecture which retains many features from the time designed by the architect Henry Fedeski, marketed with a guide of £645,000. Both received competitive bidding and sales were agreed within three weeks of the properties coming to the market.”

Judith added: “Leamington is popular with young professionals due to the easy commute to city centres such as Coventry, Birmingham and London, while families are attracted to the town due to the range of state, private and grammar schools and amenities the town has to offer. Certainly the style of property available, especially the Regency, Georgian and Victorian houses, has contributed to Leamington’s appeal and those best in class houses on streets like Lansdowne Circus, Binswood Avenue and Lillington Road are proving to be very popular with potential buyers.”

Knight Frank is currently marketing 7 Lansdowne Circus. This Grade II* listed four storey Regency townhouse is a classic Leamington property. Built in 1834 this crescent of near identical semi-detached villas all featured painted stucco facades with wrought iron veranda porches. Situated within walking distance of the town centre, 7 Lansdowne Circus has been modernised and improved by the current owners to provide a high quality finish whilst retaining many period features. The property has a guide price of £799,995.

Leamington grew rapidly during the Georgian and Regency period due to the popularity of its mineral springs and much of the town’s architecture and places of interest such as the attractive Jephson Gardens on the banks of the river Leam and the Royal Pump Rooms and Baths date back to this period. Today the town’s popularity stems from its excellent transport links, with easy access to the entire motorway network, first class schooling and local facilities, including a good range of shops in the town centre and a variety of bars, restaurants and gastro pubs.
