This year’s Party in the Park celebration is better than ever! It’s the 20th anniversary of Vinton’s annual family-oriented celebration. We’ve got a weekend full of awesome entertainment and fun for the whole family. The fun kicks off Thursday, June 23rd with a community picnic sponsored by Farmer’s Savings Bank and Trust. Get in line at 5:00 for Hot dogs, chips, and a soda at the Farmers Savings Bank parking lot.
Then, kids in Fifth Grade and under, get lined up for the Kiddie Parade at 6:30, led by Junior Grand Marshal’s Wes Lyons Kelsey Mahood. Decorate your bike, trike, wagon or stroller and parade to the courthouse lawn where many games and prizes are waiting for you. A very special surprise during the parade will be an appearance by special guest, Paul Messerschmidt, “the Gooseman”. You’re just going to have to be there to see what “the Gooseman” has in store for the kids!
But the party’s just beginning! After the Kiddie Parade, the courthouse lawn will be full of food, entertainment and games for the kids. Local favorites, the Schmidt Family Band, and “Whatsup Juggling”, World Class juggler, Doug Sayers will each perform TWO sets! This is Doug’s first visit to Vinton, and between shows, he’ll be among the crowd teaching the kids how to juggle. VPRD Director Duane Randall said, “The Schmidt Family puts on an awesome show, and Doug’s an amazing performer. We were really lucky to get them both. The kids and adults are going to love it.” He added, “We’ve got a lot of great stuff this weekend, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. And thanks to all of our fantastic sponsors, all the entertainment is free, all weekend long. It’s going to be a great time!”
