Mayor announces jazzy events for summer fun

From June to September Nice becomes one of the most popular attractions in France. Given that it accounts for one-third of overnight stays on the Côte d’Azur, hosting visitors has become an essential aspect of the summer without losing the Niçois culture.

Estrosi says this year is going to be different with the theme “Nice 100% été” or “Nice 100% summer” prominent in all the activities, and for the first time the events will be listed in a guide.
The programme reflects the city’s many facets and spans cinema, sport, plays, concerts and dancing. Attractions include the Prom’Party – free outdoor concerts on the Promenade des Anglais – tango dancing in Place Masséna, and city tours concentrating on its rich history.

Headline events on the music scene embrace big name concerts such as Beyoncé (20th of June) and Michael George (22nd of September).

Rudy Salle, vice-president of Nice Cote d’Azur was also at the presentation and highlighted the much-anticipated new-look Nice Jazz Festival, which starts 8th of July and will again feature the father of Blues BB King among a host of acts. “This event embodies the city’s goal to cater to locals and tourists from all over the world,” commented Salle. “If someone wants to go to the theatre, they need to understand the language, but music is international.”

Numerous organisations have been involved in the programme, with Nice Tourist Office alone spending 40 million euros to bring the summer to life. With all the energy, music, dancing, and exhibitions on offer, Estrosi had one final piece of advice for spectators: “Drink lots of water!”
