A HISTORIC former police station which has become a popular Italian restaurant is going under the hammer tomorrow.
The Grade II listed Park Lodge building, on Archer Road, Millhouses, is among the properties being sold by Blundells Auction House in an auction at Sheffield Park Hotel, Meadowhead.
Blundells describe the lodge, which dates from the 1890s and houses Marco@Milanos restaurant, as a ‘Victorian gem with a fascinating history’.
Lucy Crapper, property auctioneer at Blundells Auction House, pictured below, described Park Lodge as “one of Sheffield’s most unique and recognisable buildings”.
She added: “We are delighted that we have been instructed to sell this building, it’s a privilege.
“We have had keen interest from not only local buyers but also from buyers around the UK. We have successfully sold listed buildings and prestigious properties in the past but this is the most well-recognised and historically interesting building to date.”
Park Lodge was Abbeydale’s local police station but food lovers will also recognise it as a popular venue for a fine-dining experience.
Since 1998 the building has been occupied and let to Marco@Milanos, which has converted it into a 58-seater restaurant with bar areas, kitchens, cellars and staff areas on the first floor.
Outside, there is an alfresco dining area. Some of the original police cells and period features have been restored during its history and are incorporated into the building, adding an unusual twist for diners.
Marco@Milanos will be a permanent fixture at Park Lodge until at least 2023 after a new tenancy agreement was signed recently generating £28,500 per annum. The building, which has views of Millhouses Park and the nearby cricket pitch, has a guide price of £350,000-plus.
The auction takes place on Tuesday, from 2pm.

Investing a minimum £350,000 for a building and working long hrs to generate an 8% anual investment profit isnt really something to be gobbing off about.

agree with Charlie , not often I do but he has 2 good points a page filler of an advert and nothing to do with their already imbedded business relationship I’m sure, I also think that blunders don’t caire to sell your house they are taking 700 pounds just to use their service, I see many a property with their sales board out side, when I had a visit from them after laughing at him wanting money upfront I said i wanted 700 pounds of him to advertise blunders outside my house I said that’s cheap! just like he told me it’s cheap, haybrooks was the only company that scored well on a shop I did on them all intact blunders told me to go in 12,000 pounds bellow the asking price as it had been on the Market for a while and I would get it! wow that’s who I want selling my house……….. haybrooks tried to push the asking price very good selling it’s the agent that sells the house in the end as long as the house looks good mind.
Fantastic advert for the Star’s friends at Blundells. I wonder if the 4 page of adverts in the weekly property guide has anything to do with this ‘news?’ To add balance to this story, I should add how awful Blundells are. They had our house on the market for 18 months and generated 2 aborted sales. Towards the end of this period the marketing and communication was very, very poor. We switched to a better agency who did a proper job, and who created a completed sale within 6 weeks. I would never use Blundells again, nor would I urinate on any of their partners if they were on fire. Nice advert the Star!!
