Brussels: Sign up for community rummage sale weekend

Be sure to sign up your rummage sale by Monday to be included on the map for the Brussels Community Rummage Sale event, which will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 10 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11.

Having your sale with an item description listed on the map and in advertising is available for a $10 donation to the Southern Door Family Center. Businesses interested in placing a coupon on the map should contact the Family Center by Monday. Coupons can be added to the map for $10.

Also, Family Center director Gina Wautier said that a sale to benefit the nonprofit organization will be held at their site. Anyone with items to donate to the sale (no clothes or items that would cost the organization money to dispose of if it did not sell, please), can drop them by the Family Center beginning next week.

Antique tractor pull

The AB Connection Antique Tractor Pull will place Sunday at 1062 Pit Road, just off County DK between Namur and Brussels. Weigh-in will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m., and the pull starts at noon with the Tractor Tracks Eliminator.

Antique tractors in various weight classes will compete in the following levels: Pure Stock, Antique Improved, Hot Antique, Antique I, Classic Farm, and Team Pull.

Food and refreshments will be sold on site; no carry-ins. Admission is free for spectators.

Memorial Day services

The firing squad from George W. Goetz Post 372 Forestville American Legion will conduct Memorial Day services on May 29 at 20 locations in Southern Door to honor the men and women who died while bravely serving our country. The schedule is coordinated with local church services, as clergy is asked to give a prayer followed by the rifle salute and echo taps.

Locations include: Forestville Town Cemetery in Maplewood at 7:30 a.m.; Old Catholic between Maplewood and Forestville at 7:35 a.m. on Wisconsin 42; Brockhausen on County XC east of Forestville at 7:40 a.m.; Brown on County Road J at 7:50 a.m.; Emanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church cemetery in Kolberg at 8 a.m.; Namur (cemetery on Pit Road) at 8:10 a.m.; St. Francis and St. Mary Catholic Church in Brussels at 8:20 a.m.; White Star at County K, west of County C at 8:30 a.m.; Precious Blood Episcopal Church (corner of County C and N) at 8:40 a.m.; Stevenson Cemetery (near Wave Point) at 8:55 p.m.; Geises cemetery (County DK and K) at 9:05 a.m.; Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Maplewood at 9:30 a.m.; Carnot at 10:05 a.m.; Clay Banks Town Cemetery on County U at 10:15 a.m.; Vignes at 10:25 a.m.; Shiloh Moravian at 10:35 a.m.; Schumacher Cemetery on Wisconsin 42 in Sturgeon Bay at 10:50 a.m.; Hainesville cemetery at 11:05 a.m.; Schulties-Salem Lutheran Church on County M at 11:15 a.m. and St. Peters Lutheran in Forestville on Gaede Road at 11:30 a.m.

When the services are complete, the names of the American Legion members who have died in the last 10 years will be read at the Forestville Town Hall with a flag placed in the ground for each name, a rifle salute and echo taps.

Poppy sale

The Forestville American Legion Post 372 Auxiliary members will be in Brussels distributing poppies at St. Francis/St. Mary’s Catholic Church today and Sunday. Your generous donations help support the Legion’s many services and programs to local veterans.
