Investigators are labeling a Monday evening blaze that tore through a vacant house on Fulton Street and damaged a neighboring building as “suspicious,” fire officials said.
Firefighters responded to 611 Fulton St. at 8 p.m. for the report of a fire that began on the first floor and extended into the second floor and attic. The building was listed as a total loss at $65,000.
One firefighter fell through a floor battling the blaze and was taken to Erie County Medical Center for evaluation. The extent of his injuries was unavailable late Monday.
A nearby occupied home at 613 Fulton St. sustained $1,000 in exposure damage in the fire.
