Get in the spirit of the 41st annual Earth Day, which is Friday, at events taking place in Greater Danbury this weekend and later. Additional events will be listed in coming days; to include yours, email details to cmueller@newstimes.com.
REDDING
Earth Day events will take place at the Parade Path on Redding Town Green and by the gazebo in front of Town Hall on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Redding Country Club workers will be among the volunteers sprucing up the garden. There will be a demonstration of how to plant a moss-lined hanging basket.
Bring gloves and tools of your choice to participate. Or just swing by to become acquainted with this community garden, a social gathering space for summer concerts, picnics, family events and quiet contemplation.
Events will be cancelled in case of steady rain. For more information, visit www.townofreddingct.org/Public_Documents/ReddingCT_About/paradepath, or call Terry Karpen at 203-938-0684.

With a theme of “From Farm to Table,” this year’s festival highlights the farms and sustainable natural resources of Connecticut and the local community.
With kids activities, live music, a silent auction, food, an environmental maze, litter pickup, a birds of prey demonstration and a vendor fair, it will be a full day of family fun and learning.
Proceeds will be used for a “green” scholarship at Newtown High School. For more information, visit www.newtownearthday.com.
