TRANFER-listed striker Serge Makofo netted a hat-trick as a young Grimsby Town Reserve side put five past Leeds United at Elland Road yesterday afternoon to win their first game of the totesport.com league east division.

In their final second-string outing of the campaign, the Mariners won 5-2, the other goals coming from Liam Dickens and substitute Ben Cuff.

Town, managed by Youth boss Robbie Stockdale, also included three young trialists from Hull City in their squad.

Makofo twice put Town ahead but they were pegged back to 2-2 at the interval.

But they netted three without reply after the break to claim a first victory in the 14-ganme season.
