EVENT ROUNDUP: Long Beach Celebrates Easter Holiday

    With Easter less than two weeks away, it’s time to start
making plans. Listed below are events or meals planned for Easter.
Unless otherwise indicated, everything takes place on Easter
Sunday, April 24.

    Observe Easter a little early at the 30-Minute Beach Cleanup
starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, on the beach at Granada
Avenue. Cleanup organizers will hide 200 candy-filled eggs for
first through fourth graders for the hunt, which will get started
after the cleanup at approximately 10:45 a.m. Adults and children
can have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny with the photos
posted on the 30-Minute Beach Cleanup’s Facebook page.

     A Mommy/Daddy and Me workshop to help children make Easter
eggs and decorations will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday,
April 21, at Recreation Park. 4900 E. Seventh St. A $12 fee
includes most supplies, but you’ll have to bring your own eggs and
a small scissors. This is for ages 6 to 12.

    First Church of Christ, Scientist, invites all faiths to pray
between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday, April 22. The church is at 629
Atlantic Ave. For more information, call 427-6061.

    California Heights United Methodist Church is hosting an Easter
Eggstravaganza for children through the fifth grade from 10 a.m. to
1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at 3759 Orange Ave. In addition to the
egg hunt, there will be crafts, games, face painting, the Easter

    Grace Community Church of Seal Beach has a Good Friday
Communion Service at noon and Easter Sunday services at 8, 9:30 and
11 a.m. Grace Community is at 138 Eighth St.

    Forest Lawn Long Beach hosts an Easter Sunrise Service a 6 a.m.
Sunday, April 24, at 1500 E. San Antonio Dr. Reverend Karyn
Packard, director of pastoral care at Long Beach Memorial Medical
Center, will deliver an Easter message and music will be provided
by the Lakewood Church Choir.

    Brunch starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Aquarium of the Pacific, 100
Aquarium Way. In addition to the buffet, children can decorate
their own Easter cookies. Tickets (which include admission to the
aquarium) are $38 for adults and $28 for ages 3-11, with discounts
for aquarium members. Call 590-3100.

    Claire’s at the Museum will serve Champagne Easter Brunch from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a carving station, seafood station,
made-to-order omelets, and more, plus bottomless Champagne. It’s
$44.95 for adults and $12.95 for ages 10 and under. There are
discounts for members. Reservations are required. Call 439-2119,
ext. 270 or visit www.lbma.org. The Long Beach Museum of Art is at
2300 E. Ocean Blvd.

    It will be family-style Easter from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Don the
Beachcomber, 16278 PCH in Huntington Beach. There will be a live
Polynesian Fire Show, pictures with the Easter Bunny, egg coloring
and a special children’s buffet. The menu for adults includes
bottomless Champagne, make your own omelets, Macadamia nut pancakes
and more. It’s $29.95 for adults and ages 12 and younger can
partake of the children’s buffet for $13. There’s also a
three-course Easter prix-fix for $25. For reservations, call

    Gladstone’s opens at 9 a.m. for an Easter Brunch on an a la
carte basis. Bottles of Mimosa’s are $15. For reservations, call

    Live Latin Jazz will provide the background for a Champagne
Easter Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hotel Maya, 700 Queensway
Dr. Among the entrees are Braised Pork slow roasted in achiote and
citrus juice, Sea Bass and Plantains, Chicken Cilantro and more.
The price is $45.95 for adults and $22.95 for ages 6-12. For

    The Champagne Easter Brunch at the Hyatt Regency includes live
entertainment, complimentary parking and photos with the Easter
Bunny along with the brunch. It’s $42 for adults, $21 for seniors
and children ages 6 to 12. Call 492-1234. The Hyatt is at 200 S.
Pine Ave.

    The Marriott Long Beach has brunch and dinner buffets on Easter
Sunday. The brunch features the usual breakfast items and both the
brunch and the dinner feature fresh seafood, roast beef, baked ham,
desserts and more. Brunch (10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) is $35.95 for
adults, $32.95 for seniors and $18.95 for children ages 5 to 12.
Dinner (4-7 p.m.) is $32.95, $26.95 and $16.95 respectively. For

Airport Plaza Dr.

    The Naples Rib Company is offering a special Easter Meal of
ham, turkey (one or both), with mashed potatoes, gravy and steamed
vegetables for $15.99. They open at 10 a.m. for take-out and noon
for dining in. The Naples Rib Company is at 5800 E. Second St. Call
