  • Helena. Your basic assumption, alas, is flawed. The royal wedding is not ‘good news’. It is cakes and circuses… I don’t like it. But other people are perfectly at liberty to celebrate it if they wish to. This is a free country… which it wouldn’t have been if the Royal Family had had their way back in the mists of time! This is Oliver Cromwell’s county. And Thomas Paine county. Republicanism. AUX BARRICADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cheer up Martin! England could do with some good news for a change. Whether you like it or not, this lifts spirits and brings people together and that’s exactly what we need amongst loads of job losses, cuts and fighting. It is only 1 day so lighten up and put a smile on your face. And if you’re still not happy, go abroad for the day and let the rest of us enjoy it.
