FLEMINGTON — Figures from the International Council of Shopping Centers show that outlets have fared better than the regular regional shopping malls in recent months, according to Linda Humphers, editor of Value Retail News.

They also show that shoppers who have recently started going to these shopping destinations are satisfied and therefore doing more of their shopping at these discount centers, Humphers added.

Now, Premium Outlet malls are making it easier for shoppers to find more of what they want and save money on those purchases with a VIP shopping event coming up on April 16 and 17.

“This private event is for VIP Shopper Club Members to enjoy two days of exclusive savings . . .,” said Michele Rothstein, spokeswoman for Premium Outlets, the outlet division of Simon Property Group. “Participating stores are offering 20 percent off your entire purchase.”

Signing up for the VIP Shopper Club is free at www.premiumoutlets.com/vip.

The event is taking place at Liberty Village Premium Outlets in Flemington, Jackson Premium Outlets, Jersey Shore Premium Outlets in Tinton Falls, and Premium Outlet centers across the country, Rothstein said.

At the Liberty Village Premium Outlet Stores in Flemington, stores participating include Bass and Factory Brand Shoes, Nautica, Polo Ralph Lauren, Van Heusen, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfinger, Brooks Brothers Factory Store and Calvin Klein. Children’s clothes will be featured at Polo Ralph Lauren Children, Carter’s and OshKosh B’gosh. Timberland will be offering its own rugged lines of clothing, shoes and outerwear. Underwear will be available at Jockey, L’eggs Haines Bali Platex and Maidenform.

All stores are offering the 20-percent discount, although some limitations apply. Check www.premiumoutlets.com/vip for details.

If your shopping needs tend more to the gadgets or kitchen supplies, then check out Le Creuset. Among the pieces included in the discount are the store’s own Heritage stoneware pieces.

“We will also have lots of cast-iron at great discounts as well, including round and oval ovens and much more,” said Gina Cowen, Le Creuset store manager.

Liberty Village Premium Outlets include 17 stores for designer fashions and sportswear, five children’s stores, six stores selling shoes, one store for fine leather and luggage, four stores for accessories and jewelry, two stores for gifts and specialty items, and a store for housewares and home furnishings.
