The Bridge Inn pub, a former Salvation Army headquarters next to a roundabout in Liverpool’s Norris Green neighbourhood, has not had a happy history.
Once a family destination, over the past three decades it has developed into “a man’s pub”, in the words of the new landlord, Dawn Grant. It was grubby at best, dangerous at worst, and a hangout for local gang members. As of last summer, it only brought in about £4,000 a week.
