Soup kitchen: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Faith United Methodist Church, 801 W. University Ave. The church’s food and clothing pantry is open Mondays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Minot State University’s Distinguished Alumni Series continues with a visit from Dr. Jon Allen: 4 p.m., Gordon B. Olson Library’s lower level. Allen, a 1977 graduate of the MSU nursing program, is an associate professor of medicine at the UND School of Medicine in Grand Forks. He will lead an informal discussion and refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
The traveling bus exhibit, “Behind Barbed Wire,” about the experiences of Midwest prisoners of war in Nazi Germany in World War II, will be at the Minot Public Library: Monday, 4 to 7 p.m. Minot is one of 21 cities in North Dakota in which the exhibit will be shown. Michael Luick-Thrams, executive director of TRACES, a St. Paul, Minn., based nonprofit educational organization, will speak about Midwest POWs in Nazi Germany camps: 6 p.m., Minot Public Library’s North Meeting Room, lower level.
2nd Story Social Club’s movies and treats night: 7 p.m., 13-1st Ave. SW.
The International Artist Series 2010-11 season closes with a piano concert by Jim Witter: 7:30 p.m., Minot State University’s Ann Nicole Nelson Hall. Witter will perform his program, “The Piano Men,” which highlights artists Billy Joel and Elton John. Admission is by subscription only. Call 858-0863 or 852-2787 for more information.
