Andrew Forrest, chief executive
officer of Fortescue Metals Group Ltd. (FMG), topped the 2011 Business
Review Weekly’s list of Australia’s 200 richest executives,
based on the market value of the shares they hold in their
companies.
The value of 49-year-old Forrest’s 31 percent stake in
Fortescue climbed by almost a third to A$6.2 billion ($6.2
billion) over the past 12 months. That pushed News Corp. (NWSA)
Chairman Rupert Murdoch, 81, into second place, with the value
of his stake in his company at A$5.7 billion. Crown Ltd.
Chairman James Packer, 43, remained at number three with a
holding worth A$3.6 billion, the magazine said today in an e-
mailed statement today.
Australia’s total executive wealth this year is A$35
billion, with 81 of the top 200 involved in resources or mining
services, BRW said. The list counts the 200 richest executive
directors and senior managers of Australia’s 500 biggest
publicly listed companies, based on the amount of shares they
have in their respective companies.
The minimum fortune to make it to the list is A$12.5
million, 30 percent higher than last year.
